The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) of India conducts two examinations under the 10+2 school system: the All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE; year X) and the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE; year XII). The subject choices and syllabuses prescribed for these examinations are varied and aimed at nurturing the unique gifts of students.

The All India Secondary School Examination (grade X) follows a course of general education, in accordance with the recommendations of the National Policy on Education, 1986, and is taught in English.

The All India Senior School Certificate Examination (grade XII), also taught in English, follows a two-year course of study after the completion of year X.
